Understanding Positive and Negative Integers

Today Clara and I recorded a video teaching you how to understand positive and negative integers. I found it quite hard to explain how to do it and I enjoyed getting the question right because it's a good feeling. I was challenged when I was teaching it to you because it was quite hard to explain it in a way that's easy to understand. I could have been BTB (Better Than Before) by explaining it a little bit more. Thanks for watching it. Bye

Brain Benders

Today for an extra activity we could choose to do a word puzzle game. I decided to do it because I like things like this. Some of the questions were super easy and some made me think for a while. The easiest one was probably 1 in a million. The hardest one that made me think was the last one. It was pretty confusing and basic so I got Dad to help me with that. There was another hard one and that was the I see you understand one. It didn't make much sense but I got it after a little while. I really enjoyed doing this because I like doing this sort of thing. I didn't dislike anything and nothing challenged me to hard.

Ghost Town in Bodie, California

Today Ellie and I decided to make a drawing about a ghost town in California. The ghost town is called Bodie and it is quite creepy! It was very interesting making this drawing because we learnt lots of fascinating facts. We really tried to make this quality cause the teacher said we would get a sticker if it was up to standard. I really enjoyed learning all these interesting facts about this cool town in California. I disliked trying to fit all the text boxes into the drawing. It challenged me by trying to find lots of facts. Next time to be BTB (Better Than Before) I will try to space it out a little bit better.

Silhouette Art

Today for art we had to make posters of one sport we like. It took ages and I finally finished it. I chose netball and it was very difficult. First, we had to draw the silhouette and then draw the straight lines in the background.
We had to look at a colour wheel ad see 2 colours that were opposite each other on the wheel so that they would stand out. We started to blend and that took the longest time. Then once we were finally done doing that we outline everything in black. I really enjoyed doing this artwork and would definitely do it again.

Jackdaw

For the past couple of weeks for Literacy, we have been doing Jackdaws. A Jackdaw is basically just something that explains the book that you read. My book is I am David. I personally didn't really enjoy the book too much, but it would be a great book for adults. I enjoyed colouring in the title because it was cool to do. I disliked writing about the book and reading the book. To be BTB (Better Than Before) I think I should add more writing and make it a bit more colourful.

My Leaf

Hey everyone, for some decoration in our class, we decided to make some leaves, It's all about me and my personality. I'm very proud about how it turned out and really enjoyed doing this. I liked colouring in my name because of the ombre pattern. I disliked trying to draw so I just ended up tracing a couple of things. I think next time to be BTB (Better Than Before) I would put a background colour on first but otherwise, I think it's pretty good.

Dixon House

On Tuesday my class and I were all feeling super nervous. We were about to hop on the bus

to Dixon house. We all had our books in hand as we started leaving the school. The bus was

buzzing with excitement and anxiousness. We arrived at the park and we did a quick

2-minute walk over to the elderly home. We waited for a while, all feeling nervous. We

helped carry in some food and we went inside. Our first glimpse was much more different

than we expected. There were 2 rows of elderly people each doing different things. Some

were sleeping and some were talking. There was even one playing with a pop it. We all lined

up at the front and Mequa introduced us. We then got told to go around and start reading

to some people.

It took a while to kinda get comfortable but I started reading to one lady. I was reading to her but she seemed more focused on someone else so I left and found someone else. The next woman's name was Pauleen and she was super sweet! I read my book to her and we finished and just started talking. I asked her lots of questions like her favorite hobby and stuff. I learnt quite a lot from her. The sweetest bit was that when I was reading I saw her crying happy tears and I nearly cried, myself. After we talked for quite a while, I passed her onto Ellie. I walked around for a little and then read to someone else. I kept going around and reading to people and each person left tears in my eyes.

We read for a while and then got told we could come up and eat food. I was halfway

through my book so I continued to read and then talked for a bit. After a while, I went to

eat, which I thought was going to be my favorite part but I loved reading to them and didn’t

want to stop. Me and my friends talked for a little bit then my teacher said we could read

to one last person. I got up and wandered around for a little while and then found one lady.

I started reading to her and then she told me she has had that book read to her already,

because me and my friends swapped books. We then talked for a while and had a good

conversation. All of a sudden Calais went in front of everyone and thanked them all. I was

super sad that we had to leave and as I walked out I thanked everyone so much. We walked

down the corridor and left, all feeling kinda sad. We all enjoyed it so much and would all

definitely go back. I had such a good time visiting and made some good memories. My

highlight of that was when one lady started crying because she was so happy and all of

their old stories they told me about. I didn’t dislike anything because it was all so great.

I learned not to take things like that for granted and to treasure memories you make,

because you never know when you or someone has to go be taken care of by someone else

because they are incapable of doing so themselves.
