My hometown Greymouth

Here in Greymouth, we have a pretty small town. Our weather goes back and forth and we have rain and shine. Our population is only about 9,700. Mawheranui is the Maori name for Greymouth. I think my town is really special because we have a smallish town and we have lots of activities and I'm happy to say Greymouth is where I live.

Top three facts I know about New Zealand is:
1. New Zealanders are called kiwis and a kiwi is not a fruit in New Zealand. It's actually a native bird.
2. 30% of New Zealand is actually filled with forest.
3. New Zealand is one of the most unpopulated countries in the world with only 4 million population.

What it would be like to have eight siblings...

I wouldn't really like having eight siblings because we would always fight over things and we wouldn't get many presents. It would also be pretty great because I would always have company and would always have someone to help me do work. But then again if we ordered takeaway and only had enough money to buy one scoop of fish and chips you would probably only have four chips 'cause of you're big family. And also if your Mum and Dad say "What theme park do you want to go to" then you say Movie world but then all your siblings say Dreamworld then you have to go to Dreamworld. Also for one last fact is......... THE REMOTE!!!!! You would have to fight for your life and hurt other people. Then when you finally get the remote your Mum or Dad will say "No T.V." I mark my case. That is why I would hate having eight siblings.

Waka adventures

Dear _____,
I'm sending this letter to you from New Zealand!!! That's right we named the country New Zealand. My travels with two other people was the scariest but most exciting I've ever done. I ran out of food and had a panic attack but I caught some fish and ate it. I'm standing on the shores of New Zealand ( NZ ) and wishing I had more company. Can you please round up the Maori people and send them all over here this instant. I am here with two other fearless warriors. We arrived at a beach and we're deciding we want to call it Waitangi. We traveled on a waka and it took about five days.
I hope you guys come over and start to develop a New Zealand with us.

3. The brothers don't believe Maui can catch some fish

The Ladder of Death

The Ladder of Death
I was there standing frozen. The ladder of death was staring back at me. I could hear one of my classmates ( his names Carlos ) screaming like a little girl. I put my hand on the ledge. CREAK!!! This looks fun but I don't want to fall back but anyway I step onto the ladder.

As I step on the ladder I hear a thud. I look back and see that Harlem ( another one of my classmates ) was sprawled out on the ground. I’m thinking to go back and help him but there were already 16 students huddling around him. As I went up some more I saw someone slip and fall into the pit of doom. Ai ai ai I thought and then I realized it was my friend. I zoomed up the ladder and watched her fall. I felt like I was in one of those movies where they both put their hand out to reach each other. “Eh I got other friends,” I said soon after that. Well I gotta continue my tramp to school I thought and then I started to walk again.

I wonder if my whole class will make it alive?

Australia

Day 1. Wow. I didn't know Australia was so hot! We just got off the plane into Australia and I'm so excited. Alright, first things first get the rental van. Second things second go have dinner because I'm starving!! Dad, Mum, Nana, Grandad, Tane, Asha, Charlie and I are all here in Aussie and we're all excited. We finally got the rental van and then it took about half an hour to sort out where we were going. When we finally got to our accommodation we went straight to have dinner. Once we had that done and dusted we went to where we were staying and went straight to sleep.

What will happen if we don't start to care about our environment

Our environment is not getting cared for anymore and I want to do something about it. I mean this picture (the top right corner) is Cobden Beach Greymouth right now and think of all the animals that could be getting killed right now!!! Our world will soon look like this trash bag earth if we don't do something!! So don't forget to REthink REfuse REduce REuse REcycle and REsponsible disposal! So my main message is to not use rubbish and try to get your school rubbish free then try your town then your country then your WORLD!!!

Tech Famine Reflection

On Friday the teacher's announced that we were doing 2 days where we had NO TECHNOLOGY!!! The teacher's also pointed out that there will be prizes for who could use the least technology. My class and I were all really excited and couldn't wait for Monday.

After the weekend had passed it was Monday. I came into the classroom with a surprise. Our release teacher was there but that was not the surprise. The surprise was that the release teacher was on her COMPUTER!!! The day got better and the release teacher got off her computer. Throughout the day we did some spelling, maths and reading. The next day was a whole lot better and we had our real teacher. Throughout the day there was a magician, we went to the beach and we played a whole bunch of games. We also got set a challenge for Monday and Tuesday. The challenge was to see if we would not use any technology at home as well as school. At my house we took photos of me and my sister reading the newspaper , me and my brother climbing a tree and me my sister my other brother and Mookie (our dog) all eating ice cream. In the end I thought the tech famine was really fun.

This is my plan for my comic. Sadly I did not finish.

My holiday

During my holiday I went up to Glorivalle with Kimberly, Alyssa, Brialey, Steven, and Ellagrea. When we arrived it was a lot different than we'd expected. We saw Mr. Sinton-white, his wife, and his daughter. When we finally started to go in the waiters showed us where our seats were and there was food in front of us. The show started and I fell asleep for some of it. I asked Mum if we'd get any more food since I'd eaten it all and she said there was a full course. In the intermission, my brother Tane leaned over to talk to Mum but he slipped and his tongue knocked on the table. It started to bleed so Mum brought him to the desk. The show started again and I think the food was better in the second half. There was delicious tomato soup, a really nice dinner and ice cream with chocolate and whipped cream. Once the concert was done we went outside and Stella, Tane, Asha, Charlie, Walter and Me played on the playground. Soon once the adults were done talking we left. It was really amazing.

Today we were exploring the point of a bird. Sadly a bit of my beak fell off.

Wiki o Matariki

We have been learning about Matariki. We have done lots of different things including making stars, doing plays, making a story map and making a thing where it looks like we are reaching out to the stars.
My favorite thing that we have done so far is the play. We get to act out different characters and run around. I was the Grandma who told the kids that a star has been stolen and that we need to find it.
